Visual Farm is a full-time photographic service established and operated by Kelvin Lau. The business is located in Foster, which is adjacent to the sublime Wilsons Promontory National Park in Victoria. It also operates from a second base in Bentleigh, in the Melbourne bayside region. It offers services to individuals and businesses located within the South Gippsland and South East Melbourne regions.
Kelvin received formal training in commercial photography at ICPP South Melbourne in 2003 and 2004, but has been actively engaged with traditional and digital photographic processes since 1988. He also holds a PhD degree from the University of Melbourne in visual qualitative research, having investigated the intersection between photographic narratives, mental health, and cross-cultural experience. He has special interests in the documentation of performance through collaborative work with other artists, and the ongoing exploration of the meaning of photomedia within contemporary art practice.
Kelvin was selected as a finalist in the Monash Gallery of Art 2020 William & Winifred Bowness Photography Prize.
